About GoodFrenchTips — Learn French the Real-Life Way
GoodFrenchTips is a modern learning platform created by French teachers in the U.S., designed to help English-speaking adults practice real French — through conversation, culture, and community.
Originally launched as a blog sharing tips from French classes at the Alliance Française de Los Angeles, GoodFrenchTips has grown into a vibrant, teacher-led space for learning and connection. We focus on real-life conversations, Franco-American cultural insights, and a human-centered community that supports your journey toward fluency.
What Makes Us Different
- 🗣️ Conversation practice designed by real teachers — with natural, clear audio and culturally relevant prompts.
- 🇺🇸 Content made for Americans learning French — cross-cultural explanations and practical, everyday usage.
- 👥 A live community with WhatsApp groups and a Monthly Zoom Session (first Thursday): French current events — presentation + open discussion to practice in real time.
- 🗞️ Weekly newsletter with curated blog posts, French expressions, and audio clips.
Who We Are
GoodFrenchTips was founded by Violaine de Landes, a Paris-born French teacher living in California since 2016. Violaine teaches at the Alliance Française de Los Angeles and holds a Master’s degree from La Sorbonne. She created GoodFrenchTips to extend her classroom online — and to help students stay engaged and confident between lessons.
Today, the platform is developed by a small team of passionate teachers and cultural contributors, united around one idea:
💡 French is not just a language. It’s a lifestyle you can live, practice, and enjoy — even from the U.S.

🟦 Hélène Renaut a teacher at the Alliance Française of Los Angeles

My original degrees are in Music and Literature. After falling in love with San Francisco and moving to California, I taught French and Music in French-American schools while pursuing a career as a singer-songwriter. I now specialize in private and group instruction in Los Angeles. My experience includes accent coaching off and on set, translation and interpretation. I believe in the parallels between language and music learning, fostering rapid progress tailored to students' needs. Working with children, adults and colleagues of different backgrounds and cultures, I have learnt to adapt to various publics, develop sound educational plans, and use patience and empathy to relate to my students and enhance their learning. I am looking forward to helping you along on this linguistic and cultural adventure!
